Millarville Polocrosse Club is a non-profit club, committed to teaching and playing Polocrosse. We play on a field just a couple of minutes north-west of Millarville in Alberta, Canada. The gorgeous backdrop of the Rockies, the friendly atmosphere, and the great game of Polocrosse will ensure that you come back for more. KING OF THE ONE HORSE SPORTS

Unlike its namesake Polo, you need only one horse. In fact you are only allowed to use one horse when entering a competition. There are no limits as to size, age or breed, only stallions are restricted. A wide spectrum of horses and riders are now competing from a wife variety of disciplines including dressage, team penning, three day eventing, rodeo, Barrel Racing, 4H.  Emphasis is on safety, conditioning, training, horsemanship and most of all fun.

Something For Everyone

Polocrosse is a sport open to every age and ability. We have people joining that are just learning to ride, to people that have competed internationally in other disciplines. You can move up the levels as quickly as you want and be as competitive as you have time for.

Played around the world

Polocrosse was first developed in England in the 1930’s as an indoor game to teach and improve riding skills. Reaching Australia in the early 1940’s polocrosse soon evolved into a fast paced competitive sport. Polocrosse is now played worldwide in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Holland, Norway, United States, and Canada. The World Cup of Polorosse will be held in 2011 in the United Kingdom where teams from around the world will meet, compete and make new friends.  There will be numerous opportunities to travel around the world with a team over the next several years, and even the chance to represent Canada on the next World Cup team. So now is your chance to learn this internationally played sport and meet people from around the world!

In general:

Millarville polocrosse Club members’ annual dues cover the cost of field rental, field mowing, club insurance, umpires, and other joint expenses. Various membership types are available, including full player member, first-year player member, and non-playing associate member. Please contact a member to discuss what is best for you.
As required by our club insurance, all people riding horses at a Polocrosse Club events must be members of the Alberta Equestrian Federation. AEF membership is also required to receive a handicap, which is necessary to play in tournaments. Reduced cost student and first-year player memberships are available.
Players provide their own horses and equipment. Established members may, on an individual basis, be willing to help you give polocrosse a try if you don’t yet have your own trained horse. The social aspect of polocrosse tradition that continues at the Millarville club, be sure to make time to socialize after the game or practice. If you prefer to participate from the sidelines, pack up your cooler and join us! Associate members are invited to all club functions and parties.

Millarville-map Practices:
During the season, the weekly schedule of play will usually follow this format (weather permitting):

- Monday evenings, 6:30 Millarville Practice.

- Wednesday evenings, 6:30 Calgary Practice.

- Thursday evenings, 6:30 Foothills Practice

-Saturday Sunday, play will rotate between fields

Lessons: We can rent horses and provide lessons to get you started, give us a call to setup a time.

The Millarville Club is located just a couple of minutes North-West of Millarville at 290056-240th st. The driveway gate has a diamond in the middle. The house phone is 931-3610, c 403-816-5251.

If you are coming from Turner Valley, turn west on highway 549, travel about 2km. Turn north on 240St just after the grey house on the corner. Travel approximately another 2km and it will be the last house on the right before crossing 290Ave.

If you are coming from Okotoks, use highway 549 and turn north on highway 22, travel approx. 600m. Turn west onto 298 Ave, turn right at the T-intersection, turn left onto 290Ave.

Turn left at the four way stop. It is the first house on the left.
