Polocrosse…a fast, exciting and action packed horse sport.

A great family sport for all ages that as the name implies, it is a combination of polo and lacrosse. It is played outside, on a soccer sized grass field, on horseback. This sport can be played on any breed of horse although under 16hh is preferable for agility and proximity to the ground for ball pick-ups. Players are allowed only one horse for their game or tournament. Rider’s use a racquet with a head comprised of loose, thread net, from which a soft sponge rubber ball is carried and thrown. The objective is to score goals by throwing the ball between your opponent’s goal posts. Polocrosse is a team sport. Teams can be any combination of young or old, men and ladies.

The only pre-requisite for a successful Polocrosse player is a love of horses and willingness to learn and have fun. A players racquet and riding skills improve through regular practice and lots of laughs.

OUR CLUB

FieldofDreamsMap The Foothills Polocrosse club was formed in 2003 by an energetic group of people who love to play this great sport of Polocrosse. In the true spirit of horse sport our club was formed on three basic ingredients: sportsmanship, horsemanship and companionship.

After being introduced to the sport in Calgary the founding members of our club wanted to grow the sport locally in the MD of Foothills. So we organized at our new location south of Calgary, naming our club the “Foothills Polocrosse Club,” and eventually started leasing a permanent practice field on the LeDuc home place.

The club has been at this location since 2003, hosting it annual Stampede Classic tournament. Providing competitive polocrosse for all levels of players. Travel teams include players from the USA along with other International teams from as far away as South Africa and Australia.

Please note that our club is very social for riders and non-riders too!
